Chicago Ed’s jewelry store was founded by Edward F. Pagel in 1954. Ed was a WWII submarine veteran who at the end of the war enrolled for course work at the Chicago School of Watchmaking in Chicago, IL. When he was finished with his apprenticeship Ed stopped in his hometown of Cannon Falls to visit with with friends and family on his way out to Leeds, SD to check out a retail store that was for sale. Ed ran into a local banker by the name of D. Faye Case. After catching up with each other Mr. Case offered to loan Ed money to start a shop in Cannon Falls, MN.

Country Side Antique Mall was established May 1st, 1991 in Cannon Falls Minnesota. Prior to it’s establishment, the building and property was occupied by the Old Windy Acres Truck Stop, which was located on Old Highway 52 between Rochester and the Twin Cities. It is known to be the first truck stop in Minnesota and was frequently visited by cattle haulers heading to South St. Paul and freight trucks transporting to the Twin Cities.
