"Screenwriting:  the Basics"

 

 

Plan to join St. Olaf English and Media Studies graduate, Kjersten Lukken as she leads a

workshop outlining the creative process of screenwriting for short films, plus she will discuss

formatting of the script and provide examples of preliminary script ideas. Participants must be

age 16 and older.

Cannon Falls Museum Open House

 

On May 20, 1884 a fire destroyed everything between Main St and Mill St on the west side of

4th St.  The Cannon Falls Museum (the 1888 fire hall) will be open from 9 a.m - 7 p.m. to look

at pictures, articles and fire apparatus from the 1884 and 1887 Cannon Falls fires.  Firemen will

ring the fire-hall bell during the day.

Now is the time to do some spring cleaning! The City of Cannon Falls is hosting a Spring Clean-

Up Day. City Residents and persons with a Cannon Falls address who live outside the city

limits can bring items from the list below to the Public Works Maintenance Facilty~825 Cannon

River Avenue for disposal.

  Memorial Day Parade and Program
 

Local citizens join together with patriotic groups to honor and remember those who have served

their country. Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by a memorial service at the Cannon

Falls Community Cemetery beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Colvill Memorial site.

Grief, Loss and Bereavement Seminar

 

The Gardens at Cannon Falls & Hospice at Mayo Health System of Red Wing is hosting this

seminar at the Shepherd's Center.  It will include an overview of the bereavement process,

expressions of grief and mourning, influences on the grief process and how to support others in

  North Star Grand Prix ~ Cannon Falls Road Race
 

This pro stage race, a part of the North Star Bicycle Festival presented by North Memorial

Health Care, draws the top pro racers from all over the country.  The race starts and finishes in

historic downtown Cannon Falls. Professional and elite races from across the county will race

in this 85 mile road race that culiminates with 4 finishing circuit laps around the in-town circuit

that gives spectators the opportunity to be a part of the action as they cheer the best riders in

the world racing just inches away. Along with opportunities to watch the world's best racers,

spectators can also enjoy live music,concessions and kid's fun races in the Expo area.

 

Profits from the North Star Grand Prix Bicycle Festival are given to Minnesota

Special Olympics.

 

The festival is a blast for ALL ages! The expo opens at 4:30 p.m. with a stunt rider, bike &

fitness booths and displays, plus live music featuring Dave Carpenter and Friends.

 

Children can also get ready for pro racing with the free Park Dental Tour de Kids Fun Race.

Kids can bring their bikes and helmets to race on the same course the pros use. In order to

participate, all children will need a parent to sign a waiver form.

         Womenís Pro/ Elite Rural Course Race (85 miles) starts at 4 p.m.

         Expo opens at 4:30 p.m.

         Park Dental/Shimano Kids Fun Race starts at 6 p.m.

         Men enter circuit (four laps) at 6:45 p.m.

         Men finish circuit at 7:15 p.m.

         Women enter circuit (four laps) at 7:30 p.m.

         Women finish circuit at 8:05 p.m. - Awards Ceremony follows

         Expo closes at 9 p.m.
