Cannon Valley Trail

The Cannon Valley Trail runs through a diverse and spectacular scenery on a former Chicago Great Western Railroad line. Connecting Cannon Falls, Welch and Red Wing, the trail is for hiking, biking and cross country skiing with no motorized vehicles allowed. PLEASE NOTE: NO PETS ALLOWED ON CANNON VALLEY TRAIL

Trail Information

Cannon Valley Trail is open daily from sunrise to 10 p.m.

The Great Minnesota Ski Pass is required for cross country skiers on Cannon Valley Trail. The trail is regularly groomed and track set for two way travel: skate skiers welcome.

Friends of the Trail
Friends of the Trail is a citizens organization whose purpose is to assist the Joint Powers Board in its management of the trail. Your membership is the Friends will:

Provide opportunities to increase you involvement with the trail
Make available resources to achieve trail goals
Keep you informed of the trail and valley events through a quarterly newsletter

Please Remember...
To protect the resources of the Cannon Valley Trail and to insure its safe use, you are required to follow the trail ordinance:

No pets allowed
No motorized vehicles
No horses
No alcoholic beverages
Fires only in designated areas
No weapons (including bows) unless unloaded and cased
Do not disturb and plant, flower, wildlife, or other natural or cultural resource

This ordinance applies to all trail lands, usually 50 feet each side of centerline of trail. Violators of the ordinance may be punished by a fine of $700 or by imprisonment for 90 days. Other regulations may apply.
